LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT
Sunday, February 1

Dear Altar Society members,

The month of love has arrived with chilly weather and warm hearts! Now is the perfect time to remind our loved ones and friends just how much they mean to us. My heart is full of love and gratitude for each one of you and the entire Christ the King Community.

Our board members met in January for the first time this year and are busy planning wonderful winter/spring programs and events for our members. Please go to the website to see all Upcoming Events and to register online.

The new year kicked off with Adoration on January 2nd, and Beverly Marroy reported that quite a few more people than expected showed up to pray before Our Lord. Thank you, Debbie Begert and Beverly, for organizing Adoration every First Friday throughout the year. Your hard work is bearing fruit! We encourage everyone to participate.

On a lighter note, Mah Jongg Mondays have started up again, and Erika Spinazzola is doing a great job gathering Altar Society Mah Jongg enthusiasts (from beginners to experts) for a great time of fun and fellowship. Erika is also planning a fun night of Mah Jongg for the near future. Stay tuned!

Sherry Krawietz has been working for months to organize a very special New Parishioner Welcome Reception scheduled for January 25th, and she was expecting record attendance. God had other plans, however, and we had to postpone it because of inclement weather. We will let everyone know when a new date is set. Thank you, Sherry, for all you do!

Lent is just around the corner, and to help us prepare, we have our Lenten Morning of Reflection and Brunch coming up on February 25th. We are thrilled that Andrew Petiprin, Christ the King’s Director of Community Life, will be leading us in reflection and prayer. Don’t forget to sign up. Our Retreat Committee has a beautiful morning planned starting with Mass and followed by brunch and the spiritual program.

Looking further ahead to March, we have two fantastic events planned. The first is our general program, titled Everyday Strategies to Thrive in Life, and will take place on Wednesday, March 4th. Please look for a postcard invitation in the mail and plan on attending.

And lastly, please plan to attend our annual Spring Bingo Luncheon, BINGO & BLOOMS, on March 24th at the beautiful Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens. Proceeds from the luncheon will be used to purchase the liturgical furnishings for the new Christ the King Chapel and to support the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth. Look for information on this newsletter or our website on how to purchase tickets and to learn about a fun shopping experience coming up related to this event. Thank you to our Bingo Co-Chairs Gayle Agnew, Betty Hovas, and Dianna Unis and their committee for their hard work in insuring this will be an event to remember!

Sending you love and happiness this Valentine’s Day!

Ana Yoder
