I hope your Thanksgiving was filled with gratitude and with peace as we enter the Advent season. At our Advent retreat, Father Tony explained about the joy, preparation, and anticipation of Christmas and the Second Coming of Christ. Advent is here, and we are encouraged to keep Christ in our hearts during Advent and as we prepare for our salvation. Thank you, Karen Carney, Mary Kathryn Elliott, Maria Parigi, Gina Rischard, and Father Tony for a beautiful and enlightening morning with delicious home-made (with love) food. Our hearts are full and ready.
Our ‘Trust the Whisper’ program was a huge success! Kathy Izard shared her story and the stories of others who listened to God’s whisper and found their purpose in life. She encouraged us to risk believing in the dreams God is quietly urging us to follow. I am appreciative to all who came and to Betty Hovas and Dianna Unis for making this a lovely and well attended program for our members and the community.
We have two upcoming Altar Society events that are beloved to our members. Betty Hovas and Dianna Unis are at it again! They are organizing ‘My Favorite Things’ at the home of Marti Burke. Mary Louise Binning is overseeing the Christmas Tea at the home of Susan Piot, and I am looking forward to seeing you all there. Thank you, ladies, for your efforts on behalf of our members. To sign up for either of these events, please go to our website.
And as always, we have the annual Angel Tree giving event on December 14th and 15th. Your donations are greatly needed and appreciated by these organizations: Brady Senior Center, Our Lady of Perpetual Help School (OLPH), St. Joseph’s Residence, St. Mary of Carmel School, and White Rose Women’s Center. We have a special project this year. OLPH is requesting a science program for grades 1 through 5. Please consider giving to this worthy cause. Any amount is appreciated.
So many thanks to each of you for your service to the Church, the Altar Society, and to the community. Merry Christmas, and here’s to another year of faith and fellowship!
